How do I schedule an appointment?

You have three options:

  1. Email me at camilla@camillamager.com
  2. Fill out the contact form
  3. Call my office number (212) 696-6498

When will I hear from you once I’ve reached out?

I will usually get back to you within a few hours. If you are contacting me after hours or on a weekend, I will get back to you on the next business day.

What if our availability doesn’t match or the price isn’t right?

I am in the fortunate position of working with some truly wonderful clinicians, right here in the same office space.  In fact, they are clinicians I have hand-picked and taught pretty much everything I know.  So if you’re looking for someone with a similar expertise, they are here – in my office!  That said, if I think you would be better served by someone elsewhere in the community, I will certainly give you their contact information.

You can learn more about the therapists with whom I work on the IntrinPsych Woman website.  You can learn more about each therapist on the About page.

What is your cancellation policy?

I maintain a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged for the session.

What ages do you treat?

Ages 12 to 112.

Who do you work with?

I will work with anyone I feel I can help.  If I don’t think I am the right therapist for you, I will offer one or more referrals to someone I believe would do a better job.

What kind of therapy do you do?

I am, at heart, a relationally-oriented therapist.  That said, I think it is key that a therapist have many tools at their command.  When appropriate, I draw from CBT, DBT and SCT tools and techniques.

What happens in a session?

Mostly we just talk.  Depending on our focus and the therapeutic techniques being utilized, we might discuss:

  1. your thoughts and behaviors – and how we can shift them to help you achieve your goals
  2. your coping mechanisms – and teach you some new skills that can help you manage your emotions and behaviors
  3. your relationships with your friends and family – and eventually (once it’s established enough) use the relationship with your therapist as a place to explore patterns of relating and even experiment with new ways of being in relationship

What is your professional training and experience?

I graduated from Brown Univeristy, earning a B.A. with honors in Religious Studies.  I then attended the California Institue of Integral Studies in Aan Francisco, CA where I was awarded both my Masters in Clinical Psychology and my Psy.D. (Doctor of Psychology) in Clinical Psychology.

My dissertation focused on mother-daughter relationships and the impact of patriarchy on these relational dynamics as well as some of the psychopathology that can develop as a result.

I trained in eating disorders at the Henry Ohlhoff Intensive Outpatient Program in San Francisco, at Sara Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, at the Columbus Park Collaborative in NYC and with Dr. Judith Brisman, Ph.D. who is one of the pioneers in the field of eating disorders, having opened the first center in the United States dedicated to the treatment of bulimia.

Besides eating disorders, do you have other areas of specialization?

I do!

Addiction:  I am very familiar and comfortable with the 12-Steps and have also worked with other recovery processes including Smart Recovery, DBT and harm reduction.

LGBTQ: I work with this population frequently – and have seen a lot of overlap in my work with addiction and eating disorders.

Entrepreneurs:  I am one!  I get it.  It’s a challenging and exciting road.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

After the initial consultation, if you feel the relationship has promise, I generally recommend that we meet for 3 more sessions.  That is usually enough time to evaluate goodness of fit.

If, after those 4 sessions including the intake, you come to the conclusion that I’m not the therapist for you, I will offer referrals to someone who might be better suited to your need or style.

Conversley, if after 4 sessions it becomes clear to me that you need something I’m unable to offer, I will give you the name of someone who is a better fit.

I don’t want you to waste your time or money.

Do you accept insurance?

I work with clients who have Cigna, Aetna, BCBS, United and many other popular insurance carriers as out-of-network providers. Although we do not accept insurance directly, we use a wonderful app called Nirvana Health, that will quickly estimate how much you can expect to pay for therapy before and after insurance kicks in.

How do you take payment?

I accept cash, check, venmo, zelle, visa and mastercard.

What else does a client need to know to make the most out of working with you?

You get what you give. The energy you put into the work will directly influence what you get out of it.
