Starting a business is like walking a tightrope.
There’s a strategy to walking the line.
Entrepreneurship
Direction
You’ve figured out your end goal. The idea is solid – whether a product or service, you’ve found your niche. Getting there, well, that’s another story. You have to map out your route as best you can, doing your best to anticipate the unexpected twists and turns in the road. You must plan for the unanticipated – the obstacles.
Gearing up
If you can’t see what’s happening, if your own psychology limits your vision, it’s hard to know what strategies will be effective on your journey. Knowing where your vision is clear – and where it is not – is crucial to successful forward momentum. Knowing yourself – where you struggle and where you succeed – is required.
If you don’t know your blind spots, your self-limiting strategies and your faulty assumptions, it’s very hard to anticipate difficulty and even harder to react with wisdom.
Mindset, Mindset, Mindset…
The most difficult thing about starting a business is managing your own mindset. When the inevitable road blocks and route changes arrive, will you have the awareness, the tools and the skills to maintain your mindset – and the flexibility to react appropriately? In the end, this is the key.
The process will inevitably be hilly, but how you hold yourself accountable, how you orient yourself and manage these ups and downs will determine your success and your failure.
